Not an nhl rule expert, I think Mrazek couldn't freeze the puck that far from the crease , prompting the ref to tell him to play the puck.

Columbus does as good of a job of forcing you outside and creating at best low percentage shots of any team in the game right now, the Wings played into their game most of the night. Columbus with the lead was more than content to allow the Wings to carry the puck and take one poor shot after another, not enough grease.
